1920

Our

History

Planting of the first olive trees took place in 1920,

by planting about 750 trees of Tsounati variety, on the spot where the oil mill is now found, in a land of about 55 acres. After 35 years, 80% of those trees have been inoculated with the Koroneiki variety, which constitutes the dominant variety of our groves.

1960-70

Our

History

Between 1960-1970, a vast piece of land was purchased, about 550 acres, on hilly slopes.

The goal was to apply terrace farming with olive groves, perhaps for the first time in Greece, in order to retain the steep sloping terrain, without spoiling the natural landscape. In addition, there are several advantages of this practice (better water efficiency, improved development of young trees), however there are some disadvantages as well, the main being the higher cost of olive growing and harvesting.

1980

Our

History

The first attempt of mechanisation in farming, took place in 1980,

with the purchase of tractors and other mechanic equipment (pruning – harvesting). Until then, the entire process was done manually or with the aid of other farmers’ machines.

2004

Our

History

The first major shift of the faming production took place in 2004,

when the entire land was incorporated in the frame of organic farming, and was certified by BIOHELLAS.

2007

Our

History

Our private oil mill was founded in 2007,

mainly because it was really challenging to grind our organic olives without being contaminated by conventional olives from oil mills of the surrounding area. Initially, the legal status of the firm was a General Partnership, however in 2017, the legal form changes into a private business, including the olive farming. The oil mill is also certified by BIOHELLAS and TUV and all related regulations of food processing, are implemented.

2012

Our

History

The year 2012 marks the initiation of replacing all petrol powered tools and machinery related to olive farming,

such as chainsaws – grass cutters – with electric powered tools that carry lithium batteries. The entire process of replacement is completed in 2021.

2022

Our

History

In 2022 we install photovoltaic panels of 10,5kw,

the use of which has delivered us 100% energy sufficiency of all operations in the oil mill and the electric powered tools.
