IN THE LAND OF OUR ANCESTORS, THE OLIVE TREE REIGNS

Starting your route from Chania center and heading towards the West, you follow the coastal road heading to Maleme.

As soon as you reach Maleme, you will turn left towards the South, heading to the traditional village, Manoliopoulo, of Platanias borough, by taking the road Maleme – Nea Roumata. As you pass by the village and you continue towards the South, you will encounter a chapel of St Peter and Paul – Holly Cross. On that crossing you will turn left head southeast, following a smooth dirt road. 25 km from the city of Chania, and after you have completed a serpentine route passing through a typical Cretan landscape that boasts countless olive trees, you will have reached your destination. At the top of the route, the scenery will dazzle you.

Among the sycamores, the cypresses, the fruit and olive trees, you will find the oil mill Marakas as well as the inviting home/hostel which enjoy the panoramic views of the Cretan Sea and the olive groves across the cliffs.

The feeling is warmhearted and inviting, luring the visitor into an exploration of the senses. The view of the cliffs filled with olive groves on their slopes is enchanting at first sight. The modern and impeccably organized oil mill, the house’s warmth, the land’s views, the order and the array of olive trees, compose a wholesome farming experience for nature lovers as well as for experienced olive growers.
